Why Pride and Prejudice and Original Madeleines?

Pride and Prejudice (get it on Bookshop.org | listen on Audible) weaves a tale of romance and clever banter set in England’s lush countryside, evoking the crisp charm of a fall day. The story’s elegant dances and heartfelt moments pair beautifully with the subtle sweetness of madeleines, reminiscent of an afternoon tea at Netherfield. These petite cakes are just the right size to enjoy alongside a chapter without pulling you away from the book.

Original Madeleine Recipe

This recipe makes about 12 madeleines, perfect for sharing with a book club or enjoying solo in your cozy reading nook. If you don’t have a madeleine pan , a mini muffin tin works in a pinch. Not a baker? Pick up some madeleines at a local café to enjoy with your book.

Ingredients

2/3 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 large eggs

2 teaspoon vanilla extrat

10 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled

1. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk well to blend.

2. Whisk the eggs and vanilla together and stir into the flour mixture until well combined.

3. Pour the melted butter into the batter and fold until fully incorporated and shiny.

4. Optional – refrigerate for 2 hours.

5. Heat the 375F and grease and flour the madeleine pan.

6. Using a tablespoon cookie scoop, place a level scoop of batter into each spot on the pan.

8. Remove from oven and immediately flip onto kitchen towel for 10-15 minutes to cool down.
